Covington May 15 (1943) - A retired farmer of the community, Carleton W Hopkins, 80, died at his home east of Portland at 6 p.m. Friday following a week’s illness.  He was born in Garnet, Kan on Feb 17, 1863. His wife, Mrs. Frances Belle Helms Hopkins preceded him in death.  Surviving are a sister, Myrtle Hopkins and two brothers, Frank and George all of Garnet, Kan.  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Fountain Christian Church with the rev. CP Strawmyre officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Attica, with Shelby Undertakers of Covington in charge.
